Udhar vasuli ke upay: seven steps for a petrol pump to ask for its udhar and keep the transporter

Short answer

This page is for a petrol pump that gave diesel on credit to regular customers such as transporters and fleet owners, not for money lent to a friend. Check your own record, send a clear bill, ask politely with the exact amount and a date, agree part payments if the transporter cannot pay at once, stop new credit until it is cleared, then send a written demand. Legal steps come last. Never threaten, shame or post about the transporter.

MDG Services makes Khata Kavach, so this page comes from the maker of one of the apps it may mention. It is general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. Facts about other apps are taken from their own websites and app listings on the date shown and can change, so check them there before you decide.

The seven steps

Pump ka udhar kaise nikale? Udhar wapas kaise le? This page is for a petrol pump with regular transporters who take diesel on credit, not for money lent to a friend.

  1. Check your own record. What is owed, since when, and what the transporter has seen.
  2. Send a clear bill. Bill number, period, amount, how to pay. See numbered bills.
  3. Ask politely, with the exact amount and a date. In person, or on your own WhatsApp to that transporter alone. Ready words: reminder messages.
  4. Agree a plan if the transporter cannot pay at once. Part payments with dates, written down.
  5. Stop new credit until it is cleared. See when to stop credit.
  6. Send a written demand. Amount, bills, dates, a last date to pay. Keep a copy.
  7. Legal steps last. See the steps. The usual time limit to sue is 3 years, from delivery or from the end of the agreed credit period Limitation Act 1963, Art. 14 Limitation Act 1963, Art. 15. With many deliveries on one account, courts differ on the start: see the time limit.

A made-up example

Made-up pump, made-up figures. Gupta Transport owes Sharma Fuels Rs 84,000 for diesel (about 930 litres at Rs 90) and cannot pay at once. They agree Rs 28,000 on the 5th of each of the next 3 months (3 x Rs 28,000 = Rs 84,000). New credit stays closed until the third payment.

What not to do

  • Shame the transporter in public, on social media or in a group chat.
  • Threaten the transporter, or send someone to frighten his driver.
  • Pass the transporter's name around to other pumps.

Public shaming or threats can backfire. If in doubt, ask an advocate.

How Khata Kavach helps

  • Steps 1 and 2. Each transporter's page shows what is owed against the limit, every fill and payment with its date, and how old the balance is. A numbered PDF bill goes from your own WhatsApp, with a UPI QR if you have added your UPI ID.
  • Step 3. Transporters near or past the limit show on Today with an "Ask for payment on WhatsApp" button, which opens your WhatsApp with the message ready. Once a bill is past the due day you set, "Send a reminder" does the same. You press send.
  • Step 4. "Record a payment" takes part payments. That much credit opens again.
  • Step 5. The owner can freeze the account. As soon as the nozzle phone is online, that transporter shows red.

Khata Kavach keeps the account. It never lends, never holds money, and does not collect dues for you.

Questions people ask

01Udhari kaise vasool kare without losing the customer?

Keep it about the account, not the person. Name the exact amount, ask the transporter for a date, and offer part payments. In Khata Kavach both of you can look at the same fills.

02Koi udhar wapas na de to kya kare?

Do not chase harder. Go up one step: stop new credit, then send a written demand. Keep every message and bill.

03Pump ka udhar kaise nikale? Udhari ka paisa kaise nikale?

Start with your own record, then a clear bill, then a polite ask with the exact amount and a date. Offer part payments to a transporter who cannot pay at once. Legal steps come last.

04Can I charge interest on late udhar?

Agree interest in writing before the first credit fill. Where nothing was agreed, a court decides Interest Act 1978, s.3. Khata Kavach does not add interest.

About Khata Kavach (advertisement)

Khata Kavach is a shared credit book for petrol pumps, from MDG Services. The transporter asks before each truck fills, your nozzle man sees the limit before he fills, and both of you see every fill, payment and bill. It never lends or holds money.

Not legal, tax or financial advice. Pages about getting paid, notices, interest, courts or tax explain the general position in India on the date shown. Laws and rules change, and every case is different. For your own case, speak to an advocate or a chartered accountant.

Examples are made up. The pumps, transporters, vehicles and amounts in examples are made up, and so is the data on the app screens shown. No example describes a real customer or a real result.

What Khata Kavach is. Khata Kavach records credit fills, bills and payments between a petrol pump and its customers. It never lends money and never holds anyone's money: it is not a bank, a lender or a payment service. A Khata Kavach bill is not a GST tax invoice.
