Khata Kavach features: what the pump owner gets, what the transporter sees

Short answer

Khata Kavach is a shared credit book for petrol pumps, in two apps: the Pump app for the owner, managers and nozzle men, and the Transporter app for the transporter who buys diesel on credit. By default the transporter asks before each truck fills, the nozzle man sees a green, amber or red light, and both sides see every fill, payment and bill. You set each transporter's limit. Khata Kavach never lends and never holds money. For the price, call us: it depends on your pump.

MDG Services makes Khata Kavach, so this page comes from the maker of one of the apps it may mention. It is general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. Facts about other apps are taken from their own websites and app listings on the date shown and can change, so check them there before you decide.

Two apps, one shared line

The Pump app is for the owner, managers and nozzle men. The Transporter app is for the transporter who buys diesel on credit, and his staff. Each fill is one line, and both sides see it. Both apps open in the phone's browser today.

Every feature, side by side

The four fuels, by the litre

Khata Kavach handles diesel, petrol, premium diesel and premium petrol, by the litre. The nozzle man types the litres and the rupees off the dispenser. There is no rate list: nothing is priced or converted.

At the nozzle

The nozzle man types the last 4 digits of the truck number and sees the light and the credit left. He types the litres and the rupees and taps Done. Both phones show the fill.

With no request the light is red, "No credit", and he can fill for cash. Per transporter, the owner can instead let a manager's PIN allow a fill without a request.

Who does what

  • Nozzle men type the last 4 digits, see the light, type the litres and rupees, and tap Done. They never see a transporter's phone number.
  • Managers type their PIN to allow one fill past the limit. They also record money received and make bills.
  • The owner sets each transporter's limit, the staff and the bill numbering.

What Khata Kavach does not do

  • It does not make a GST tax invoice. It makes a numbered bill.
  • It does not lend, hold or collect money.
  • It does not send messages by itself. One tap opens your own WhatsApp with the message ready.
  • It does not track stock or record cash fills.
  • It does not let a transporter sign up alone: the pump invites him with a link on WhatsApp. A pump starts on its own in the Pump app.
